was re-activated and placed in the mouth,
hovering over the teeth until the camera
starts to acquire; the cut-out section is then
filled in. The reason for this additional step
was to leverage the milling time. It allowed
us to get the first restoration in the milling
chamber as fast as possible. While it was
milling I could complete the rest of the
preparations. The benefit of being powder-
free made for an efficient imaging session:
no stopping, grabbing the powdering
device, and having to clean the powder off
after imaging.
The veneers were proposed and refined
and as they were being milled, the restora-
tion for #21 was finished with an applica-
tion of stain and then glaze and fired.
Lava Ultimate restorations were finished
as recommendedby3M, andall restorations
bonded with by the total-etch technique
utilizing Scotchbond Universal and RelyX
ultimate. Figure 14 shows the teeth after the
restorations have been bonded into place.
Conclusion
The Omnicam allows us to approach cases
in a way that we couldn’t before. It helps
break down some of the barriers we have
placed on ourselves. When these barriers
fall, new and unexpected opportunities
appear, allowing us to progress — allowing
us to step into a newworld. To paraphrase
Neil Armstrong, “Omnicam, one small step
for a dentist, a giant leap for dentistry.”

The cuspid was prepped and the lower
arch was captured. Preparation was
marginated and design completed as
seen in Figure 12. As the restoration was
being fabricated, the lower incisors were
prepared for veneers. The cuspid was
placed on the preparation. The case was
returned to the Acquisition phase and
the lower model was edited by using the
cut tool. The preparation of #22 and the
unprepared #23 and #24 were removed
from the virtual model. The cut tool is a
cut inside” tool, so you outline the area
you want removed and click "Apply."
Figure 13 shows the virtual model after the
cut tool was applied.
After evaluating that the model has been
adjusted the way you wanted, you close the
tool and are able to proceed. The camera
