to support and maintain tissue esthetics.
Thanks to the release of e.max abut-
ment solutions (Fig. 14), a single-visit
restoration (a provisional in this case)
is achieved in about an hour. The provi-
sional restoration is hand-tightened into
place (Fig. 15) and the access hole is
closed with a matching resin.
The result is an ideal provisional that
supports andmaintains the tissue, meets
the patient’s desire for not goingwithout
a tooth, and allows complete control of
ensuring the provisional is out of func-
tion (Figs. 16 and 17).
What’s even more impressive is that
Dustin’s final custom abutment and
esthetic restoration will be prefabri-
cated and ready for delivery after full
integration. In this case we will use this
same digital impression to “split” out a
custom abutment and crown. We will
enlist the help of a master ceramist to
layer and beautify our final e.max crown.
Hopefully Dustin’s case epitomizes
this new frontier of 3-D implant dentistry
and disrupts your thinking of how today’s
technology can create a new patient
experience and help achieve predictable
outcomes.
