I typically involve a class or lecture that
I am either attending or mentoring. It
is truly fun to live and breathe dentistry
when you have a support group around
you that feels the same.
I was asked to join the cerecdoctors.com
Mentor Group somewhat early in my
CEREC career. When education advisor,
Shayna Phipps put the Mentor Group
packet in front of me, I became quite
excited and asked, “Great! Who’s going
to be my mentor?!” She laughed and said
that they wanted
me
to be a mentor. They
saw something in me I did not see myself,
and for that I feel truly blessed.
what is your favorite cerec
procedure?
My favorite procedure is RCT, build-
up and crown in one appointment. It is
very unique and provides a fantastic,
time-sensitive service for our patients.
What makes this process even better is
if we can squeeze them in on their initial
evaluation visit, or if they have driven
long distances to see us. In some cases,
four or more appointments have now
been condensed into one. Now if we can
only convince insurance companies to
understand that we truly did all those
procedures in one day ...
what is yourmost unique cerec
procedure?
We have really just scratched the surface
withCEREC.We havemany patientswith
large failing/fracturing amalgams, large
crowns with recurrent decay, and the
like. I particularly like custom designing
implant abutments and, hopefully by print
date of this article, fabrication of implant
abutments in our office. Of course, we
are doing more and more inlay and onlay
procedures on teeth that may have neces-
sitated a full-coverage crown in the past.
if someone was to take your cerec
away today, youwould … ?
To be honest, I would not want to practice
withoutCEREC.Sometimesweneedtohave
our ownboat rocked toopenour eyes tonew
technology as I did years ago. But now it is
great tobe theonedoing the rocking!
anything youwould like to add?
The practice I purchased was very clean
and very personalized to the previous
doctor. He is a sailor andenjoys everything
that pertains to the sport and history. I am
very lucky to have purchased his practice
in the fact that he was a fabulous dentist
and he had incredibly loyal patients.
New technology can be difficult to
accept and there is certainly a cost to
incur with it. But there is a service to
showing the patients their X-rays or
digital photography on a 40-inch screen.
In a few short minutes, patients can start
to understand what we, as dentists, are
recommending, and most will agree with
our analysis.
I always feel repetitive saying this,
but I wouldn’t be where I am today
without the support of my friends at
cerecdocstors.com.
