            2013

“so when are you getting rid of the

boats?” is a common question in Dr.

          Lindell Kemmet’s Minot, N.D., office.

In winter 2012, he purchased a practice

from a retiring dentist and naval enthu-

siast. He has made some major techno-

          logical renovations while leaving the

          office esthetically alone, including the

          boat-themed wallpaper. For this, his

          patients are reaping the benefits.

            howlonghave you been in practice?

I graduated from dental school in 2007.

I spent nearly four years in public health

service, and two years in private prac-

tice before purchasing my first practice

in 2012. I always knew I would someday

return to my native state and, with the

experience I gained over the years, I

knew which path I was comfortable

following for the remainder of my career.

          This path currently involves CEREC’s

          same-day technology.

what is the size of your practice?

Physically, we have around 1,600 square

feet and three operatories. With one

doctor and one hygienist, we serve

around 1,000 active patients and are

growing daily. We are in talks of reno-

          vating and expanding soon.

what type of dentistry do you do?

          Nuts-and-bolts dentistry. Currently, we

are focused on general procedures that

patients are in severe need of: broken

          teeth, crowns, bridges, root canals,

          extractions, etc.We are slowly expanding

the types of procedures offered as

          patients are feeling more comfortable

with their new dentist. This comfort is

evidenced by patients now asking to have

practice. With CEREC, I am utilizing

down time to get to know my patients

          personally as their restorations are

being fabricated. We are also seeing new

patients ask for same-day crowns due

to word-of-mouth in the community. It

takes much of the high stress out of my

day when we can relax and just talk with

our patients face-to-face. As their new

          dentist, face time is vital.

But even more than this, CEREC has

given me the drive to succeed, and has

completely changed the way I view

          dentistry. Through cerecdoctors.com,

my personal circle of close friends has

expanded, and new doors have opened

          — including becoming a basic trainer for

CEREC as well as becoming a product

evaluator. When stumped on a partic-

ular case or treatment plan, I turn to my

          friends for guidance. When vacationing,

          elective veneers, large amalgam fillings

          replaced with porcelain crowns, implant

          placement, and full-mouth reconstruc-

          tions, including orthodontia.

            whywas cerec your cad/camchoice?

CEREC is the total package. In our area of

North Dakota, we are unique in offering

          a near 100 percent same-day crowns and

bridge delivery solution. We serve a very

large geographic area, and patients may

drive two to four hours to see us. Many

patients have high-stress careers — in oil

fields or farm fields — that will not allow

them to easily make a second trip for the

crown seat. We also see as many emer-

gencies as we can fit into our schedule.

            howdoes this technologyfit into

            your office philosophy?

We focus on the patient, first and fore-

most. Not only does this mean clinical

excellence, but also regard for a patient’s

time and finances. CEREC also allows

us to make the decision to replace a

failing restoration with a crown, inlay

or onlay that fits their particular needs

and conserves as much tooth structure as

possible — and at a price they can afford.

The time commitment of a patient

cannot be ignored. With the current

price of gas, and the employment situa-

tion in our area, jobs are competitive and

patients are not willing to sacrifice days

of work to make multiple appointments.

Sometimes they come only when it is

absolutely necessary and they don’t want

          to make a second visit.
