QUARTER 3
|
2015
And, speaking of themagazine, we aremoving into our eighth year
of publication. I know that, for myself, there was no way I foresaw
what would happen with the publication. In fact, I could barely
foresee how we were going to put
the first issue together since I had
never done anything like doing it
before. I believe the whole Maga-
zineteamhashelpedmeseebeyond
what was possible eight years ago.
And what about you? What is it
that you want to see in your future
withCEREC? Hopefully, there are
many things to see and be inspired
by in the articles of this edition of
the magazine.
And, as always, if you have a
problem or a question concerning
technology related to CEREC, you can see your way to the cerec-
doctors.com Discussion Boards to get your answer. Looking
to better your overall experience with CEREC? Check out the
Hands-On Workshops at the Spear Campus.
Once again, in this issue we hope to help you see clearly — for
miles andmiles andmiles—all things digital. Consider no substitute.

i can remember listening to the who’s classic “i can see for miles” when i was in high school.
The group is now
celebrating their 50th anniversary with a grand tour.
I’m sure when Pete Townshend wrote this (andmany other songs), that he could not have foreseen he’d be performing them in
concert when he was 70 years young. Like much in life, we don’t have a total concept of what is to happen in the future.

(If) I Can See for Miles
What is in Your Future?
This year is the celebration of CEREC’s 30th anniversary. I’m
sure Drs. Mörmann and Brandistini were hoping for great success
for the technology for restorative dentistry. And Iwould alsowager
that, despite that hope, they could
not have foreseen the integration
it would have with other technol-
ogies. The integration that would
help dentists make such a positive
impact in patients’ lives.
Wehave several examples of that
positive impact in this issue. Digital
guides have been used predictably
for guided implant surgery. Dr.
Farhad Boltchi shows in his article
a new option that allows for the
fabrication of a surgical guide via
3-D printing technology. When
indicated, this digital guide has been proven to be very accurate and
have a faster turnaround time than previous guides.
And who could have foreseen the explosion of all the new
materials recently with the CEREC technology? Our cover story
explores one of the newest of these materials, Celtra Duo, and its
potential in the CAD/CAM arena. Besides the story, this material
also gave us the opportunity to create one of my favorite covers of
any of our issues. (Thanks to Dr. Markus Vollmann and Dr. Bob
Conte for being our “models” for it!)
