To me however, just browsing existing cerecdoctors.com
content through an app wasn’t that exciting. If we were
going to devote our resources to creating an app, that app
would have to domore than just browse the site.
Then, one night as I was updating our lectures for the
Level 2 course, a light bulb turned on. We have a section
of the course called the Efficiency Review, where we
review a clinical case and discuss ways to become more
efficient with the CEREC procedure. As you can imagine,
one of the most common desires of new CEREC owners
is to perform the CEREC procedure
more quickly. So, what if instead of
a boring app that simply browsed
cerecdoctors.com, the app was able
to help docs become more efficient
with the CEREC procedure?
In addition to viewing the videos
and the discussion forum, users
will now have the ability to track their cases using our
new cerecdoctors.com app. The app features a timer that
allows you to track each step of a CEREC procedure: the
time it takes you to give anesthesia; the time it takes you
to prep; and the time it takes you to bond in the restora-
tion. Essentially, the entire procedure can be timed.
Then, once you are complete, the app will take your
time — along with all the times of everyone in the
community — and give you an average. Now you can
quickly see where you measure up with your peers. If
your time falls outside of the community average, you
are given resources, including links to videos, PDFs and
discussion forums. These will allow you to review and
learn, therefore making youmore proficient and efficient
at the CEREC procedure.
But of course we didn’t stop there. Want peer-to-peer
feedback? You can also take a snapshot of each step’s time,
and post it to the discussion forum. What better way for a
new user to receive support from the CEREC community?
And remember, this is no race to see who is the fastest
at fabricating a crown. The goal is to give CEREC users
a realistic view of where they stand with the rest of the
community and have an opportunity to find out all the
ways to improve efficiency.
