Another option that
can be turned on in the configuration
menu for the Omnicam is Acquisition
Hints. When activated, the Acquisition
Hints will give visual indications on
areas where there is insufficient data
for the model to give accurate results.
Figures 2a and 2b show red arrows on
the previewmodel that indicate to the
operator that additional images should
be taken in the direction of the arrows.
By simply using the Omnicam and
imaging in the direction of the arrows,
the operator will fill in any missing data,
resulting in more accurate models.
The Cut Tool in the Acquisition
Phase is now greatly enhanced and
works much more effectively.
it has been almost two years since
the launch of the CEREC Omnicam.
In that time, we have seen the 4.2 soft-
ware with its ability to do abutments,
permanent bridges and more. Well, it’s
once again that time of the
year where a new software
version is upon us and, as
usual, the folks at Sirona
continue to usher forth great advance-
ments for CEREC users worldwide.
Software version 4.3 — while not as
revolutionary as 4.2 was — does have
plenty of amazing features. This article
will explore the new features and give
an overview of the software 4.3. We
will break up the description based on
the different phases of the software
— Acquisition, Model, Design, Mill and
Miscellaneous.
This article is only a brief summary
of the new features of the 4.3 software.

One of the new features in the software is the
ability to usemultiple sounds when imaging. With the original
Omnicam, the only sound that was available to aid the users
in imagingwas the “Geiger counter” sound. By giving audio cues
at different pitches, the user was able to determine if the data
was being captured or not. With the newoptions, users can select
multiple sounds that are softer andmore pleasant. The sounds
can be selected in the configurationmenu for the Omnicam.
