Andwhat about exceeding expectations? As I have noted before,
Ihavehadthepleasureofwatchingcerecdoctors.comevolve. Ihave
recently watched Drs. Sameer Puri and Mike Skramstad develop
courses that constantly do just that. I’vewatched a bandof engaged
doctors create a Mentor group that is incredibly important to the
success of thewebsite and courses.
And now, to allow others to take part in evolving their digital
dentistry to an even higher degree, the cerecdoctors.comAcademy
has begun to take shape. One of its many benefits is the Scien-
tific Symposium that will take place in October in Las Vegas. I’m
sure with the great speaker line up we have planned, there will be
presentations thatwill challengetheusual andexceedexpectations.
I believe we at cerecdoctors.com are evolving. Our intent,
whether throughthemagazine, thewebsite, ourhands-oncourses
ormemberships, is tonot onlymeet but exceed your expectations.
You have our promise we will continue in that endeavor.

…. as i was walking in the
relatively newstaff working area
at the Spear Campus: Things are
really changing!
Recently, I have taken on a
larger role at cerecdoctors.com,
and I am spending more time
at the office. The workplace
at the campus is something to
behold. Besides the openness
of the work area, I particularly
enjoy reading and thinking
about the core values that are
placed on the walls throughout
the office. The one that has had
me thinking a lot recently is the
one you see in the picture. And, at this time in my career, these
words are especially fitting: Challenge the usual, embrace
change, defy normalcy, exceed expectations.
It seems like just the other day that I was taking impressions
the oldway—and I don’tmeanusing powder!My first crownwas
done for my dad using the wonderful material rubber base. That
was a difficult process: mixing a horrible-smelling material, and
then waiting 10 minutes to find out that the impression had to be
taken again. Also part of that processwaswaiting for the crown to
be made and praying that the provisional did not come off before
the next appointment. Because if it did, it seemed to always come
off at themost inopportune time for all parties involved.
There’s an article in this issue that shows how far we have come
in this regard. It is about the immediate provisionalization of an
implant utilizing the CEREC technology. What you may not know
was that theblockusedwas borneout of the concept of challenging
the usual and embracing change. A dinner conversation between
an executive of a block manufacturer and CEREC dentists led to a
meeting the next day, and the birth of the blockwas on itsway.
