Minimal prep done with BC about four years ago.
Holding up really well.

That looks beautiful, Peter!!
Just having the chance to catch up and read all
of the recent posts.
Thanks so much for everyone for the great advice.
I will share the case if and when I make it to next step.
Today I received an email for clearance for dental/perio
from a completely different orthodontist for this patient’s
mother to have her own ortho treatment with Invisalign.
Very weird. The patient’s mother had seen the same ortho as
her daughter over a year ago, requested clearance, and then
never started her treatment. I have a feeling the mother has
now found a lower fee for her own Invisalign treatment and
is going with the cheapest around.

Great case Karen. I always try to work with the
orthodontist on these cases. I used to primarily
bond these on most adolescents because, as we are seeing,
ortho seems to be trending to a younger and younger age.
With the release of the hybrids, I now full-cover these with
LAVA Ultimate, Cerasmart or enamic. I really like the new
Cerasmart. The glaze actually works well and they look very
natural when characterized and “glazed” — which is actually
light cured. Once growth is completed, I switch them out for
a more traditional material.

I think with the CEREC it’s much faster to just
mill out a resin veneer with something like LAVA
Ultimate or Cerasmart, and then use this as a transitional
restoration. Much less work than free-handing the restora-
tion. Mill it, bond it, contour it and then, when it’s time to
put in the finals, use a ceramic material that you can glaze
and then just Biocopy what you have put.

I like Hybrids for this. If esthetics are a concern,
you can do a cutback and stack composite to get
the effect you like very quickly.
