WHAT’S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE TO OTHER CEREC USERS?
Involve and train your staff. As a CEREC dentist, or a dentist in
general, you are only as good as the staff you have around you.
Educating and training your staff will help the integration process of
CEREC to be quicker and more streamlined. Success with CEREC
doesn’t come with just being able to scan, design and mill a restora-
tion. It also comes with the front desk knowing how to schedule a

helping with patient education and awareness
on the new technology that’s available and your
assistant(s) helping with the CEREC workflow
so that you can bemore productive.
WHAT WAS YOUR CEREC “LIGHT BULB” MOMENT?
WHEN DID IT ALL SUDDENLY MAKE SENSE?
That moment occurred during my Accept
course when Dr. Sameer Puri asked, “Who
charges their patients for a crown seat?” Of
course, nobody answered yes. And then I
realized that growth and success are not tied
to the number of patients that were seen per
day, or the number of appointments you had
each month. Using CEREC to make almost
every appointment a productive one, and
eliminating unnecessary follow-up visits and
crown seat appointments that tie up a chair, helped me reduce the
number of patients I had each day while at the same time dramati-
cally increasing my productivity, reducing overhead and positively
affecting my bottom line.
WHAT WAS THE MOST USEFUL PIECE OF CEREC ADVICE YOU EVER RECEIVED?
Never stop learning. One of the great things about CEREC is that
it is always evolving. I appreciate that cerecdoctors.com is always
ahead of the curve when it comes to updating the online content
and curriculum for the hands-on courses. Each time I go out to
mentor a course, I always learn something new.
HOW DID GOING THROUGH THE ACCEPT PROGRAM
INFLUENCE YOUR DECISION?
I attended Accept in Scottsdale, Ariz., and that course had more of a
positive affect on me than any other. Prior to Accept, I was unhappy
withwhat I was doing as a dentist. It just wasn’t fun for me anymore.
As the course went on, I realized that it was the inefficient way
I was practicing dentistry that put me in a rut. I was wasting time
with temporaries, reassuring patients that post-operative sensi-
tivity associated with those temporaries would improve, and
re-impressions. And, to top it all off, I would have restorations that
would fail prematurely. This was not my idea of great dentistry.
I appreciated how the course was designed to allow me to experi-
encewhatCERECcoulddo formyoffice throughacompletehands-on
approach to the system from start to finish. And through that progres-
sion, I was able to self-critique what it was I was doing withmy preps
that caused premature failures of my all-ceramic restorations — some-
thing that I had not done before. I learned that single-visit dentistry
was the real deal, and understood that I could eliminate a lot of the

headaches of what I was dealing with before I knew CEREC — and
that was what I needed to reinvigorate my career. Without question,

itmademewant to become a better dentist.
WHAT DID YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT THE ACCEPT PROGRAM?
What I likedbest about theAccept Programwas the “Pay It Forward”
mentality shown by the faculty and mentors. The cerecdoctors.com
community has no rival in dentistry. Meeting the mentors at the
course, and seeing their willingness to share their experiences with
doctors considering investing in this technology was something I
had not seen before. There was a genuine camaraderie between
everyone involved at the program. Now, when I get to mentor an
Accept course, I try to help provide the same experience I received.
WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE CONSIDERING ATTENDING
AN ACCEPT PROGRAM?
GO! I would let them know that this CAD/CAM course is not just
another show-and-tell event where you sit down and listen to how
well someone else has done with the system. The hands-on expe-
rience really allows each attendee to explore the system and its
capabilities for themselves, and allows them to see how CEREC
will adapt to their practice.
