from VITA SUPRINITY blocks in shade
A2 and translucence level T. In order to
prevent the discoloration on the lingual
and palatine tooth stumps from possibly
showing and spoiling the overall appear-
ance, no high-translucent blocks were
used. The milling time for each crown
was from between 10 to 12 minutes.
The crowns, which were still trans-
parent, were fitted on the model (Fig. 6).
This was followed by crystallization firing
intheVITAVACUMAT6000Mfiringunit
and a try-in. The latter was done to verify
the contact points in the patient’s mouth
(Figs. 7-9). Firing was performed in accor-
dance with the manufacturer’s instruc-
tions, with the crowns placed on platinum
pins as recommended (a firing paste is not
required to support the process). We then
performed slight cut-back of the ante-
rior crowns (Fig. 10). ZLS can be easily
processed, both in its pre-crystallized state
and following final crystallization. Next,
we addedVITAVM11 incisal andTranspa
materials by firing. Cervical coloring was
then replicated by using VITA AKZENT
Plus stains to slightly darken all crowns
from the neck of the crown (Fig. 11). As
well as allowing fitting to be performed,
the pre-crystallized state also enables
corrections to the shape and surface such
as the addition of profiles, as well as shade
characterization throughstaining. Firing is
then only required once.
EXPERIENCE
We use VITA SUPRINITY often, as it is
an outstanding glass ceramic that offers
numerous benefits. One of themost signifi-
cant benefits is the considerable stability
of the material, which is important when
it comes to long-term clinical success. The
easy handling it offers during processing
shouldalsobeemphasized.Anotherpartic-
ularly useful benefit, in my opinion, is the
superior firing stability, which means that
support during firing is no longer required.
We have conducted our own labora-
tory tests, which have shown that VITA
SUPRINITY does, in fact, remain dimen-
sionally stable, even when it has been fired
severaltimes.Thefactthatnofiringpasteor
similar material is required to support the
process means significant savings in terms
of time and material, particularly where a
considerable amount of restorationwork is
required, as was the case here. And last but
not least, the new glass ceramic is impres-
sive thanks to its esthetic properties. VITA
VM11inparticularprovidesanoutstanding
veneering ceramic that is easy to process
and has been developed especially for use
withVITASUPRINITY, offering the supe-
rior quality that is customary with VITA
VMproducts.
