to Sirona’s InfiniDent lab. The crowns
were milled out of Vita’s new Enamic
block in shade 3M2. The HT (high
translucency) blocks were used. Milling
Enamic is very efficient, and offers the
ability to mill precisely without the risk
of margin chipping (Fig. 5).
The crowns were characterized using
the Vita Enamic stain and glaze kit (Fig
6). Only a few tints are needed to achieve
a natural result (Figs. 7-9). The stains,
as well as the glaze, are light-cured and
bonded to the crown (Fig. 10). The mate-
rial does not require firing in a ceramic
oven to achieve full strength. The abut-
ments are cemented to the TiBases extra-
orally utilizing Ivoclar’sMultilinkHybrid
Abutment Cement. The entire complex is
now ready for delivery (Fig. 11).
The patient’s return visit can be in just
a few days. At this 40-minute visit, the
healing caps are removed. The custom
abutments/TiBases are inserted and
torqued to the manufacturer’s specifica-
tions. Seating is verified by radiograph.
Plumber’s (Teflon) tape is used in the
access to cover the head of the screw. I
like to use hot pink in the rare occurrence
the screw will need to be retrieved (Figs.
12-13), because the color is easy to find
in the dark recesses of the mouth. The
crowns are then tried in and any adjust-
ments to the occlusal and
interproximal
contacts
are made at this time. The
crowns were cemented
witharesin-modifiedglass
ionomer cement. The final
result is a natural-looking
restoration with excel-
lent emergence and tissue
adaptation (Figs. 14-15).
This functionality is in the Chairside
software. It is well worth your effort to
take advantage of this abutment feature!
