TRY-IN
This is an optional step but allows you to
verify the accuracy of the fit and check
occlusion. The impression material and
glycerine act as a “cement” and buffer to
allow the try-in without damaging the
restorations. Per the fundamentals, plug
the screw hole with a foam pellet to keep
it clean (Figs. 11-15).
OPTIMIZING ESTHETICS
We get a couple consistent questions
regarding shades and overall esthetics:
•
how do I select the mo shade?
The medium opacity shaded blocks are
designed tomimic dentin andhelp block
out the TiBase. Think of it as the perfect
prep shade, and you pick the shade.
•
howdo i prevent the tibase from
greying out the restoration?
Multilink Automix Hybrid Abut-
ment Cement was created to mask
the TiBase and prevent greying of the
restoration. It is the highest opacity
we offer in a cement. The opacity is
so high that the cement is only a self
cure, with no light cure initiators.
•
what is the recipe for great
esthetics?
Start from the top down.
Consider what is the final shade you
want to match, and then select the
abutment shade (MO) that will give
you the match. For example, if the final
crown desired shade is A3.5, select the
MO2 block, and the LTA3.5. The entire
chart can be found above (Chart 1).
FIRING SUMMARY TABLE
FOR IPS E.MAX CAD
Over the past several years, we have
released newshades, sizes and indications
of IPS e.max CAD and with those, new
firing parameters. Taking a step back, we
see how it can be confusing for an office.
Several variables come into play, such as
numberof restorations, translucency, indi-
cation, type of glaze, etc. When you may
have experienced rough glaze, or milky
glaze, it may have been a simple matter of
the number of restorations, glaze type or
translucency (Chart 2).
CHART 1: MATERIAL SELECTION TABLE
E.MAX CAD HYBRID ABUTMENT AND IPS E.MAX CAD DEDICATED CROWN
The material is selected on the basis of the desired tooth shade (Bleach BL or A–D). Depending on the geometry of the hybrid abutment
and the crown, shade adjustment by means of characterization with IPS e.max CAD Crystall./Shades, Stains, or IPS e.mx Ceram Shades
and Essences may be necessary to achieve the desired shade. The block recommendations for the hybrid abutment have been selected
in such a way that the desired tooth shade is achieved in combination with the crown. In the “cervical area,” it may be necessary to
characterize the hybrid abutment according to the clinical situation.
