DI SCUSS ION FORUM
James Eike | Neenah, Wis. (US)
Grant, great work and nice characterization.
Patient had to be ecstatic. Cheers.
Ryan Hamilton
Thanks for posting, Grant.
Great Imaging. Incredible design. Great post-
mill characterization / stain-and-glaze.
How did you get such a great midline and symmetry doing
Biogeneric Individual? Did you have to do a lot of work with
the proposals?
There are A LOT of lab technicians out there who would
struggle to get esthetics like that.
Nice!
Jeremy Bewley | Louisville, Ky. (US)
I’m really liking the Multiblock for this. Really
well done!

Great questions.
I have started usingmy before photos to really
dial in the model axis. When I send the model axis, I will
pull the photo up on the Samsung Note Tab 10.1, and use
the photo to make sure that the model axis is correct. I will
try to detail this with some photos later. When the model
axis is correct, the model positioning cube allows you to
quickly return the model to the proper axis to verify edits.
It does take some time and practice, but it works well.
Depending on the case, sometimes I will use a Biocopy
catalog purely to help assist in midline. I systematically
make edits using the large position and rotate first all the
way down to the Shape Tool. The Biogeneric individual is
great, but the results hinge on the accuracy of the model
axis!

Very nice!
A few questions: What cement/shade? Was
the tooth structure a normal shade? On your staining/
glazing, you applied the white, then spray, then into an
oven? Then put in anatomy and polished? What did you
polish with? I’ve been trying to restore my daughter’s
front tooth with limited success. Keep getting a greying.
The tooth underneath is a healthy, normal shade. I think
the Multiblock may help, since the greying happens on the
gingival third.
Chuck Hill | Alpharetta, Ga. (US)
Very nice. I still love Empress.
Mark Davis | Klamath Falls, Ore. (US)
Beautiful work, Grant!
Russell: What Block and what cement are
you using? Try Variolink Veneer. The try-in pastes are very
accurate to your final result. Try mixing the Plus One with
the Plus Two, and that should help with the “greying” value
drop that is common with HT blocks. Also, I love e.max HT,
and when selecting a block I will generally select one shade
lighter or, better yet, make a custom e.max shade guide by
millingout your owncrowns andplacing themon IPSnatural
diematerial.
Russell Bortnem Jr.
Thanks Mark. The last one I used was an
Empress with Variolink.
Mark Davis
Variolink II try-in pastes are not as accurate as
Variolink veneer. I believe this has to do with
dual cure versus light cure. You didn’t specify which Vario-
link you used, so I thought I would mention that.
Bob Conte | Warwick, R.I. (US)
Excellent!!
Javier Andrade | Miami (US)
Those are very nice. I have never, never been
lucky to get proposals like that in Biogeneric;
I always have a wax-up for anteriors. I don’t know if it is
too much to ask that you upload the case to make some
proposals in my machine and try different insertion axis
to see what I get?
Thanks for sharing.
