PMMA Abutment block (Fig. 32) was
utilized to mill the one-piece screw-
retained provisional restoration, which
was then polished, bonded to the
corresponding TiBase with the Ivoclar
Vivadent Multilink Hybrid Abutment
cement (Fig. 33), and screwed into the
implant as an immediate non-functional
screw-retained implant provisional
restoration (Figs. 34-35).
The three-month post-operative clin-
ical and CBCT evaluation (Figs. 36-37)
revealed ideal implant placement in
accordance with the pre-operative
guided surgery implant treatment plan
(Fig. 38), coupled with an excellent and
stable preservation of the pre-existing
gingival architecture resulting in an
optimal peri-implant soft-tissue profile.
DISCUSSION
The introduction of the Ivoclar Vivadent
IPS e.max Hybrid Abutment Crown
blocks will indeed be a “game changer,”
allowing the chairside fabrication of
one-piece screw-retained implant resto-
rations, which can be used either as a
provisional implant restoration or as the
final implant restoration depending on
the circumstances.
This block was utilized in the first case
example, and it allowed the insertion of
an immediate screw-retained provisional
implant restoration approximately one
hour after the surgical procedure.
The soon-to-be-released Ivoclar Viva-
dent Telio CAD PMMA Abutment block,
which was utilized in the second case
example, simplifies the digital chairside
fabrication of provisional implant resto-
rations even further by alleviating the
need for crystallization. In addition, and
perhaps more importantly, it allows the
modification of the restorative contours
and emergence profile of the provisional
restoration during the peri-implant soft-
tissue development phase by providing
the ability to add composite material to
the milled Telio CADmaterial.
The ability to provide a completely
digital workflow for the fabrication of
chairside screw-retained provisional
implant restorations is unique and a true
CEREC advantage.
