whendidyoupurchaseyourcerecmachine,
andwhydidyouchoosecerec?
Interestingly, I took one of the early CEREC courses
taught by Professor Mörmann at the University
of Zurich in 1992. However, my involvement with
CEREC stopped for about 20 years — after I went
into periodontics and until I purchased my CEREC
system two years ago, in April 2012. Quite honestly, I
have to say that, as a periodontist, I had no intention
of purchasing a CEREC machine. However, after
purchasing a Sirona CBCTmachine (the XG3D) and
seeing the complete digital implant dentistry inte-
grationthat SironaofferedwiththeCEREC-Galileos
integration, I decided to think out of the box, leave
my comfort zone, and purchase a CEREC machine.
So, I sold the iTero system I was using at that time
and dove in full force into the CEREC world to take
advantage of the integration and digital capabilities
of the CEREC and Galileos, as well as to fabricate
abutments for my referring doctors.
howdoyouutilizethecerecinyourpractice?
I use the CEREC system only for implant applica-
tions in my practice. We use the CEREC system for
the fabrication of surgical guides, either in-house
(via the CERECGuide system) or by using SICAT
and other surgical guide manufacturing companies.
We also use the CEREC system for fabrication of
screw-retained and cemented provisional implant
restorations, for the in-house or outsourced fabrica-
tion of zirconia and e.max custom abutments, and
for fabrication of screw-retained or cementable
e.max implant restorations.
