whatkindofservicesand
proceduresdoyouprovide
foryourreferrals?
My practice is a periodontal specialty
practice, so we offer the full range
of periodontal and surgical dental
implant services. However, ourCEREC
system affords us the unique ability to
offer an additional range of implant
restorative services as well. Depending
on the preference of the referring
colleague, we can offer custom implant
provisional restorations for soft-tissue
development and custom abutments,
and we can now also offer final e.max
screw-retained or cementable implant
restorations if requested.
However, I do emphasize to our refer-
rals that we are primarily a surgical
office with regard to implant dentistry.
We do not place final restorations in our
office, and we only offer these restor-
ative services as adjunctive services to
help them and their patients as needed.
Many of our referrals use one or several
of our restorative services, but we also
have many referrals for which we don’t
provide any restorative services.
whathasbeenthefeedback
fromyourreferringdoctors?
The feedback has been very positive thus far. We
provide a digital implant dentistry forum once a
month, where we invite four to five referring offices
or potential referring offices (doctors and their staff )
to our office so that they can experience, first-hand,
our digital implant dentistry workflow utilizing the
CEREC system. I can say that without exception all of
them have been very impressed with the quality and
predictability that can be achieved with this system.
Evenmore interesting is the fact that, after doing 14-15

CEREC-Galileos integration is crucial to my work-
flow. We use this integration for planning all of our
implant cases and for fabrication of our in-house
CERECGuides for very simple cases, as well as for
ordering surgical guides from SICAT. In addition,
we also use our CEREC system in conjunction with
other implant-planning software programs.
whatistheinvolvementofyourteam
inthecerecdesignanduseofthesystem?
I have come to the realization that I want to be as
irrelevant in my office as possible, and I only want
to perform those tasks that no one else in my office
can perform. My main responsibility is to put the
treatment concepts together and to perform the
surgeries and other aspects of patient care that
my team cannot perform. Therefore, my team
does everything else from scanning, designing and
