and model pouring have been removed.
(And with it, the removal of the chances
of that dreaded phone call to the patient
after they have left the office, requiring
them to return.)
The CEREC Chairside 4.3 software for
the Omnicam has been a huge improve-
ment for the full-arch scans required to
do digital orthodontics. Once the Optra-
gate has been placed, in five minutes the
buccal bite, lower jaw and upper jaw can
be imaged cleanly. The newalgorithms in
the software do a fantastic job of cleaning
up any of the scatter and unnecessary
tissue captured. You don’t have to spend

as cerec has evolved over the years, so has the role it plays in our offices.
From its beginning as a partial-coverage restorative method, it has grown to be a system that can handle the most complex
restorative case. Single crown or onlay, bridges and implant-supported restorations are now not only possible, but can be done

But, sometimes, as you learn in the
comprehensive curriculum that is Spear
Education, you need to bring another
discipline into the equation: orthodontics.
This vital step can make the difference
between a complex restorative case that
is a nightmare, and one that is straightfor-
ward and much easier to finish.
We now can accomplish the latter in
a way we are comfortable with, digitally.
Scanning with the Bluecam or Omnicam
and sending the file via CEREC Connect
to one of our lab partners removes the
need for a PVS impression and is a benefit
we are all familiar with. Instant quality
control and “precision” is achieved, since
