case presentation:
A 56-year-old female patient presented with a discolored composite anterior tooth that she wanted
restored (Fig. 1). During examination, it was determined that the adjacent anterior tooth, which was slightly crooked and had
large composites due to a repair, should also be restored (Figs. 2a-2b). I recommended that both front teeth be restored for optimal
esthetics and function. Having access to leading CEREC technology and reliable VITA products made the one-day restoration possible.

TREATMENT PLANNING AND PREPARATION
The material I chose to restore the case was VITABLOCS TriLuxe
forte ceramic blocks. The machinable ceramic blocks were chosen
for their quality, four-layer dimensional esthetics for anterior
chairside restorations, and for their high level of individualiza-
tion. The unique characteristic of this block offers proven clinical
reliability and allows for efficient production and reduced design
time; thus making it the ideal solution for this case.
creating a detailed digital models (Fig. 6). At this time, the teeth
are checked for shade using the VITA Easyshade V digital shade
matching system (Fig. 7). Due to the position of the anterior teeth,
a light, 3-D-Master 1M2C colored shade proved to be the best
choice. Both restorations were then centrally aligned (Fig. 8).
The restorations were then milled in a CEREC MCXL milling
unit (Sirona Dental Systems). The anterior teeth were designed
and milled (Fig. 9).

Using the CEREC Omnicam Scanner with CEREC 4.4 software
(Sirona Dental Systems), I created a prescription by choosing the

forte material (Fig. 3). A detailed digital impression following good
scanning protocol was taken to scan the pre-op (Fig. 4).
I proceeded with tooth preparation, following the principals
of a CAD/CAM restoration: smooth and round angles and by
managing the soft tissue using retraction cord for a better view of
the toothmargin (Fig. 5). Following the tooth preparation, a digital
impression was taken from the preps, antagonist and buccal bite,
